Winter Ice Photos
Now just because I am bored being off work with a herniated disc for over 14 months now, I have uploaded 178 various winter ice photographs. There were a lot more but I cut out a few here and there to save space haha.
I took all of these photos from the forest area where I take my dog for a walk each day from December 2012 until now. Believe it or not I haven’t taken my camera with us for more than say 85% of the time because of the cold.
It may seem that I have overdone it a little but when the object you normally do not pay attention to become your subjects, you tend to notice or will be amazed by what you have missed all these years. Or at least I can say that, I have literally changed they way I look at things by looking at them up close and through a viewfinder and continually am amazed at the beauty around us.
I hope there are at least one or two that may spark your interest, I happen to like them all and decided to share them for all to see or purchase. I will be again changing my price list to offer prints and more…..stay tuned and please don’t forget to like my Facebook Photography page and/or comment, share or retweet any of my posts. I haven’t really been trying to generate more traffic to my pages but will gradually try to spread the word little by little.
Here are a few winter ice samples and the rest can be found here.

First Nature Photo Sale
Well today I am excited to deliver my first Nature Photo Print sale. Although I will not retire by a long shot with the profit from the 8×10 photo of a butterfly hiding in a leaf, I am just happy for the sale itself. I almost feel like a paid artist now lol. It feels good that someone enjoys one of my photos to the point of buying a print. I get compliments quite a bit on the content that I have but always had in the back of my mind that maybe those people were just being polite. Anyways, I love the fact that someone is ready to trade their hard earned cash for one of my works.
I just looked it up and it was April 23rd of this year that I revamped my website and started loading my photographs here. Three months and one week in and I get my first sale. I love taking these photographs even if its only for a short time per day. To see what transpires from what I saw from my viewfinder on my computer makes these trying times all that more tolerable.
So thank you to my first customer who plans on hanging the photo below in their childs bedroom, I’m glad you enjoy the photo as much as I do. I may print one off for myself as well to remind myself that something good came out from my injury.

Lake Reflections
I am a little behind on my photos and website updates but will try to catch up this week.
These ‘Reflection’ photographs were taken while on vacation a couple of weeks ago on Little Marble Lake. These kind of photos are one of my favorites and most of these were taken from my grandparents site and dock. There are some with Loons in them either early morning where I caught it sleeping or afternoon cruising for lunch that just added to the beauty of the nature reflection. I, can look at these photos and just hear the low, calming noise we experienced that week. I can’t wait to go back as always, I love seeing my grandparents and family that all camp at the same place. It is great fun and relaxing, my son shares the love of going there now as well. See you soon Little Marble and thanks for having us Grandma and Grandpa.
Here are a few as a quick preview, these and more can be found in the Nature Lake photographs.

Fun with Fireworks
Last Canada Day provided me with an experiment with slow shutter speeds and timing of the fireworks itself. I was sitting on a dock at the granparents and the park was setting off the fireworks. I first tested what I might be able to get away with without a remote shutter release and tripod then said screw it. I just used different shutter speeds as the show went on, it made it fun, frustrating then rewarding. Now not all of them turned out and I threw out quite a few and have 41 remaining. I figured I’d put them up for you to check out. Here are 20 of them and they all can be seen here.

Surprise, Surprise
It seems like I get quite a few nice surprises each time I head out for my daily walk with my dog. Before the half way mark of our walk I happen to notice a Blue Heron just taking flight and only caught a glimpse of it through the trees. I guess I should not let anything surprise me these days but I did know how skittish they are. He must have heard us from far away and that glimpse only lasted a second or two. As we were almost to my truck after finishing our walk, a Blue Heron was just landing into the creek far from where I was. I stumbled and caught a few pictures of it. Some were blurred from my hurried state and some were clear enough to post, I only have three to share but promise I will get better ones if I happen to see this bird again.
There’s three pictures below and they can also be purchased in the second bird gallery – click here.

Driving Towards A Different Direction.
I seem to be doing a lot of nature photographs, I will be changing that soon. Although I love nature photography, I will be looking to spend some time on other subjects. Whether it be people, places or things, I will expand my photography horizons. I have more photographs of nature than I do of my family lol. I recently took only a few photos of the old classic cars that were displayed at a local car show but quite enjoyed what came out from them. These cars were just in immaculate shape and had awesome glowing and beaming from each of them. My young son was quite excited that day which made it hard to capture more of these metal beauties, but thats ok, I would pass up any perfect shot just to see my son smile.
Here are the few photos that came out from it and the can be purchased in the Misc. section.
If you know of any other interesting events around the Durham Region or Clarington area that would be good practice for an amateur photographer, please email me andrew@andrewlahay.com

Gotcha Kingfisher!!
In one of last weeks posts I mentioned that there was one or two Kingfishers that somehow eluded the paparazzi every time I went down to the trails. Well finally I got some better photos of these sneaky, skittish birds. I was actually walking with my dog alongside the river this time and there was one, then two, then three Kingfishers. I couldn’t believe it, I scrambled to get my camera on them and setting the shutter speed and got them. Some photos are good and some, not so good but I think I will just sit there one day and try to get better photos. At least I got them.
These and more photos can be found and purchased in the 2nd gallery of Bird Photographs here.

Collections
I have uploaded four galleries of collections. I decided to do this because I do have a lot of photos and it would be hard to remember them all. The four collections are Blue, Green, Reeds, and Bridge. I will be uploading more each week as I take them. Here are just a few to see and the rest can be found under the Collectionssection.

Peony Flower Gallery
I heard about a photo contest that the City of Oshawa is putting on and that Henry’s Camera is putting up the prizes for. All the photos are to be taken at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens/Children’s Arena and the flowers bloom at different times of the year. So I went down there and took many photos. It was really hard to slim my picks to only 3. My submissions are already in before the July 15th dealine and the winners will be notified August 15th to receive $400 worth of camera gear for 2nd place and $900 worth of camera gear for first place.
So here are a few of the photos I took that day for your viewing pleasure and purchase and the rest can be found here.
Don’t forget to leave your favorite photo file name in the comments of this post. Thank you!
